The Hidden Power of Kindness
We can get so caught up in our everyday lives that we forget to take a step back and appreciate the little things in life. Take a second to think about one act of kindness you have seen this week. Was it hard to think of an example?
Sarah Browning from Time For Kindness beautifully demonstrated how important kindness is in her presentation to our team. Here are some of our favourite take-away messages:
The essence of kindness:
Kindness is not just an action; it’s a gesture with the sole purpose of benefiting someone else. Whether you’re holding the door for a stranger or offering someone directions, these seemingly small acts can create more of an impact than you think.
The science behind kindness:
Did you know that being kind has tangible health benefits? Acts of kindness increase the levels of serotonin and oxytocin in your brain and can help lower blood pressure!
Being mindful:
Choose to focus on the positives. Acts of kindness are all around us, but often we just see them as ordinary behaviour. If you actively seek out and become aware of these moments, you can transform your day into an intentionally positive and fulfilling one.
Sharing the joy:
Kindness is contagious! Sharing stories about acts of kindness with your friends and loved ones can really improve and uplift their mood. Not only are you showing them that you’re thinking of them, but you’re bringing a brightness to their day and keeping them in that positive mind-frame.
Kindness in the workspace:
While we often encounter acts of kindness in our personal lives, it’s important to remember that kindness has a place in our work lives too. Surprisingly, very few acts of kindness that are shared focus on the workplace. We are here to change that! Joanne Manville Virtual Assistance regularly donates to charities on behalf of our loyal clients, sharing the joy and impacting lives.
