Embarking on a new adventure: My business and marketing internship
Hi! My name is Madelaine and I am the new intern at Joanne Manville Virtual Assistance. My role as an intern will consist of a variety of tasks, from newsletter and blog writing, to generating new ideas for business development and content creation.
Who am I?
I am currently a second year Psychology student at the University of Exeter. I grew up in Zambia, where my passion for creative media really developed. My expertise is in videography and video editing, and my experience in this comes from working with a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and releases elephants in Zambia (www.gamerangersinternational.org). As their media officer, I had the honour of telling their story and raising awareness about wildlife conservation in Zambia.
Aside from my passion for videography and creative media, I am a person who gets a genuine fulfilment from helping others. During my gap years, I started a small non-profit organization (Lusaka Eagles) in Zambia that supports children from underprivileged backgrounds. Using football as a vehicle to engage the children, we offer educational support, mental health support and are newly starting a feeding program. The organization is one that I am very proud of, and have put countless hours into. As a Co-Founder, I have learned so much about starting an organization, using social media to tell our story, creating and maintaining corporate relationships for sponsorship, navigating legal requirements, and keeping momentum during tough times.
My New Journey
Now, I am at the beginning of a new and exciting journey where I will dive into the world of virtual assistance! I hope to use my storytelling skills, passion for creative media, and genuine interest in online entrepreneurship and business development in this internship role.
When I saw the internship opportunity I was really excited. Virtual assistance is something I have always been interested in but hadn’t yet had the opportunity to work within this field. What stood out to me most about Joanne Manville Virtual Assistance was the focus on not only assisting with business development, but with more personal issues such as emotional stress and burnout. As a Psychology student, this is something that is particularly interesting to me, and being a part of the solution is something I would be very proud of.
Due to virtual assistance being such a broad field, I am excited at the prospect of learning and developing my professional understanding of a range of topics. I not only would like to develop my written story telling skills, but I would also like to learn more about how to create the most effective solutions for clients. Virtual Assistance is all about ensuring the clients are getting the best support possible, and with my genuine care for helping others, I know I will find this role extremely rewarding.
I am excited to learn from Joanne and the rest of the team, and I hope to make a positive impact on the company.
