Do you know who you’re meeting? Say hello to Crystal
How often do you receive an email from someone and are unsure how formal or informal you should be in your reply?
How often do you arrange to meet someone for the first time and would benefit from knowing the best way to communicate with them and get the most out of the meeting?
Maybe you need a crystal ball?
Okay, so maybe a crystal ball isn’t the answer, but I’ve recently discovered ‘Crystal Knows‘ which is a fab tool which assesses a contact’s writing style in their social media profiles and makes recommendations about how to address them, based on their personality style!
The tool can also tell you:
- how best to word an email to your contact, including key phrases to use;
- how well you would work together on a project, or even in a relationship;
- how to speak to them when giving feedback;
- how to communicate most effectively;
- how to get the most out of a meeting.
Google Chrome Extensions for Crystal
You can either log into your account and search for contacts that way, or, I use the Google Chrome extension so it does the work for me, picking up someone’s details for you.
You may already know how much I love Google Chrome extensions, and Crystal is one of my favourites.
Better Communication using Crystal
If I receive a connection request from someone on LinkedIn, Crystal reviews their profile for me. This is handy especially if they may be a potential customer. This enables you to send them a message, personalised to their style, which makes it so much more likely that they will reply.
It’s really handy to get an idea of how best to communicate, and it’s pretty accurate.
Better emails with Crystal
Maybe you are applying for a job and want to get the right tone in your message? This maybe a good start if you can find your prospective employer through Crystal and may help in an interview too. If you use Gmail as your email client, you can also get help in writing emails that will tick the boxes!
Begin by typing your contact’s email address in, the tool will automatically tell you what style to adopt. Using Lizzie as an example, it says ‘be friendly’. But it doesn’t just stop there, you can also select an email template! Here I’ve chosen to invite Lizzie for coffee. I’ll be interested in how accurate Lizzie thinks this is!
Furthermore,when you receive an email from someone, you can click on ‘view personality’. This is really useful if you don’t know someone, and quite amusing if you do! The same also applies in Twitter and Facebook.
Preparing for Meetings using Crystal
A new tool from Crystal sends you an email at the start of your day to tell you about the people you are due to meet, all you need to do is connect to its meeting add-on. This can be especially useful if you have a group of people on a phone call or webinar and you need to achieve a joint objective.
What research do you do to make sure your communications have the right impact? Have you ever tried Crystal – how accurate did you find it? I’d love to hear from you.
